Please join us in continuing our support for Cancer Research and BIG HOPE 1. As a barge traveling the inland waterways, BIG HOPE 1 was built to raise awareness of not just one particular type of cancer, but ALL cancers.
In the early 1980’s, Consolidated Grain & Barge (CGB) began the river industry charity softball tournament as a way to get the industry together, have some fun all while supporting a charitable cause. Many industry companies have had their hand in making this event what it is known for today. In 1999, MEMCO continued until they became AEP River Operations. AEP held the annual tradition for 17 years. Under AEP River Operations’ direction, the marine industry raised over $885,000 for charitable causes.
BIG HOPE 1 was launched in 2012 and has since generated donations over $2 million dollars to Mary Crowley Cancer Research. In 2016, Ceres Consulting LLC took over coordination of the PUSHING HOPE ANNUAL MARINE INDUSTRY CHARITY TOURNAMENT. Although the year-to-year activities have changed, our ultimate goal remains to raise money for cancer research.
Last year we are joined forces with Gateway for Cancer Research, based in the Chicago IL area. Gateway for Cancer Research accelerates practice-changing discoveries in cancer care by harnessing the unrelenting passion of the research community and empowering patients to triumph over their disease. All of this is guided by a clear vision: To shape a world in which a cancer diagnosis is no longer feared. The 2026 PUSHING HOPE ANNUAL MARINE INDUSTRY CHARITY TOURNAMENT in conjunction with inland river barge, BIG HOPE 1 will continue to support cancer research.
This year’s activities will include: annual golf tournament and seafood boil all at the same convenient location as last year. Thank you for your continued support year after year. We could not succeed without you!
